Nanga Parbat & Passu Sar Base Camp Trek – Pakistan
At Black Glacier Tours Pvt. Ltd., we proudly present one of our most iconic and carefully crafted flagship adventures: a rare journey that takes you to the base camps of two magnificent mountains in a single trip—Nanga Parbat in the Himalayas and Passu Sar in the Karakoram Range.
This is not just a trek; it is a deep exploration of Pakistan’s most dramatic landscapes, rich mountain culture, and untouched alpine wilderness. Designed for adventure seekers, trekkers, photographers, and nature lovers, this journey showcases the very best of trekking in Pakistan. The reason which makes this journey so dear to Black Glacier Tours is because one of the trek was brought to tourism by our director Mr. Zafar Iqbal from Ghulkin Gojal Hunza. Patundas meadow trek was introduced by him, and since then it has become one of the most loved treks in Pakistan.
Just to bring it to your information that this trek is ideal for occasional hikers and first-time high-altitude trekkers, as it does not involve technical or extreme trekking conditions. The ideal time for trekking in Pakistan is from mid may or early June to late September. However there have been instances when some guests have visited both places when these are still covered in snow. During April, May and October, for instance.
Nanga Parbat Base Camp & Fairy Meadows
(Himalayan Range – 8,126 m)
Our adventure begins in Islamabad, traveling north along the legendary Karakoram Highway (KKH)—one of the most scenic roads in the world. Upon reaching Raikot Bridge, we switch from our comfortable vehicle to a rugged 4×4 jeep, climbing a thrilling mountain road that leads to the trailhead.
From here, a hike of approximately 3–4 hours takes us to the world-famous Fairy Meadows.
Standing at 8,126 meters, Nanga Parbat is:
- The 2nd highest mountain in Pakistan
- The 9th highest mountain in the world
- One of the most prominent peaks on Earth
- Known historically as the “Killer Mountain” due to its challenging climbing routes
Fairy Meadows lives up to its name—lush green pastures, pine forests, and jaw-dropping views of Nanga Parbat’s snow-covered face glowing under the sun. After spending a night here, we continue on a scenic hike to Nanga Parbat Base Camp, offering close-up views of this Himalayan giant.
We spend two unforgettable nights in this magical setting before returning to the Karakoram Highway and continuing north toward Hunza Valley.
Patundas Meadow & Passu Sar Base Camp
(Karakoram Range – 7,476 m)
Our second destination takes us deeper into the heart of the Karakoram Mountains.
After an overnight stay near Borith Lake, we begin our trek from Zero Point, Borith. The trail passes through Past Ghar, the first summer pasture of Ghulkin village, where locals graze livestock during the warmer months.
Crossing the stunning Passu (Patundas) Glacier, accompanied by our experienced local guides and skilled porters, we reach Luzdur, the second summer pasture and our first campsite in this region.
Patundas Meadow – “The Table of Mountains”
Altitude: 4,200 meters
A 3–4 hour ascent (depending on fitness levels) brings us to the breathtaking Patundas Meadow, one of the most scenic alpine meadows in Pakistan.
Patundas is known as the “Table of Mountains” because from this single vantage point, you can witness eight prominent peaks, including:
- Passu Sar
- Shispare
- Ultar
- Batura Massif
Flanked by Patundas Glacier on one side and Batura Glacier on the other, this high-altitude meadow bursts into color during summer with wildflowers and medicinal herbs. If shepherds are present, guests may even enjoy fresh milk and handmade dairy products, offering an authentic glimpse into mountain life.
From Patundas, we hike to the Passu Sar Base Camp, completing our second major objective of this extraordinary expedition.
Passu Sar (Passu Peak)
- Height: 7,476 meters
- 24th highest mountain in Pakistan
- 54th highest mountain in the world
- Located in the Karakoram Range
Return to Civilization & Journey’s End
After spending two nights at Patundas Meadow, we descend back to Borith, followed by a comfortable hotel stay. Our return journey includes:
- Scenic drive toward Islamabad
- Overnight stay in Naran Valley
- A full day sightseeing in Islamabad, visiting key landmarks before departure
Trip Duration & Customization
- Minimum Duration: 8 days
- Ideal Duration: 10–12 days (highly recommended)
With additional days, we can include:
- Shimshal Valley
- Pakistan–China Border (Khunjerab Pass)
- Extra day hikes, glaciers, and cultural experiences in Hunza

This is ideal for travelers from all around the world, however our guests from Europe and Gulf countries love this trip the most.
Pakistan is rapidly becoming one of the last great unexplored trekking destinations for European hikers seeking something beyond the Alps, Dolomites, or Himalayas of Nepal.
This trek is ideal for Europeans because:
- Comparable to Alpine multi-day hut treks, but far more dramatic
- Ideal for experienced hikers, photographers, and outdoor enthusiasts
- Moderate technical difficulty—no mountaineering skills required
- Rich cultural exposure with mountain communities
- Cooler summer trekking temperatures at high altitude
📌 Many European travelers describe Fairy Meadows and Patundas as “the Alps on steroids.”
For travelers from the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, and Oman, this trek offers the perfect cool-weather summer escape.
Why Gulf travelers love this experience:
- Escape extreme summer heat
- Temperatures range 10–25°C in mountain regions
- Scenic drives, comfortable hotels, and optional porter support
- Halal food, Muslim-friendly environment
- Flexible pacing and private departures available
📌 This trek can be customized as a private luxury trekking experience with upgraded accommodation where possible.
